OUR LATEST BOOB Qs

Q: Are plastic bags okay to freeze my breast milk in?

A: Research has shown that chemicals and microplastics from single-use plastic breast milk bags can leach into milk, especially when bags are heated to thaw milk, so it’s safest to store milk without them. Read about it here.

Q: How long can I store my frozen breastmilk?

A: The CDC states that frozen breastmilk is best used within 6 months in a standard freezer, and 12 months in a deep freezer. However, our favorite economist, Emily Oster, goes into more research here.

Q: How do I build my freezer stash?

A: There are many ways to build your stash including pumping after a baby's feed, adding in an extra pump session before bed, or using a Haaka to collect letdown from the opposite side baby is feeding on.
